President's Message From the desk of Kristen Winters
CPMA is hitting the ground running in 2024, and we’re happy to have so many dedicated members along on this journey with us. I’m sure by now some of you may have received calls from board members asking you to contact your local legislators regarding our scope of work as podiatrists in the state. Last year, we were successful in passing legislation that guaranteed the Department of Public Health would review our proposed changes by establishing a formal Scope of Practice Review Committee.
DPH is drafting a report of the committee’s discussions and will forward it to the legislative Public Health Committee any day now. When this happens, we need to ask our legislators in the statehouse to raise our proposal for a public hearing. If they do not, this initiative will die before it is even heard. We are focusing our initial outreach to members represented by members of the Public Health Committee. If you receive a call from a board member, please pick it up – we need your help more than ever.
Beyond our legislative efforts, we’re returning this year with three exciting events! This spring, we hope to see your team represented at the Radiology Course and the Cadaveric Lab coming later this spring. Registration for both events will be announced soon. Also, we're looking forward to this year’s Symposium, being held once again this fall!
Thank you all for your efforts, voice, and trust. We’re looking forward to a great year for CPMA. If you ever have questions, concerns, or feedback, you can always reach us directly at info@CPMA.org.
In Association,
Kristen Winters, DPM
President, CPMA Board of Directors
