As per Connecticut guidelines, Connecticut Podiatric Medical Assistants are required to attend a class on radiation safety as well as office-based X-ray technique, and then pass a written test. This course is offered twice per year and is open to all assistants in podiatric offices. Some training and experience in the office setting is very helpful.

The Radiology Certification Course is comprised of a classroom program followed by an examination.

A packet of materials will be sent ahead of time to each registrant along with their confirmation and session time. The course packet is for reference purposes only - please do not use the packet as a textbook. Additional information will be taught in class and the examination will be based on the classroom instruction.

After the program is presented, participants will be ready to take the exam. The exam will be given at the conclusion of the course.

The instructor will offer personal tutoring to those in the class.

Prior to class, attendees will also receive a Podiatric Assistant Radiology Office Training Requirements form which certifies that the podiatrist in the attendee's office has trained employees on proper usage of the X-ray machine. This form must be completed and signed prior to the course and be submitted to a CPMA representative at the time of the exam. Course attendees are advised to please keep a copy of the form for their records and to bring a copy to the exam. Attendees will not be allowed to take the exam unless there is a signed P.A.R.O.T.R. form.
