As the bright days of summer unfold, I extend my warmest greetings to each of you. I am thrilled to share in the collective excitement and energy that has been instrumental to propel positive change for podiatrists across Connecticut. This season brings a wealth of opportunities for growth, connection, and celebration within our association, and I am excited to share some of the highlights with you. 

Our recent CPMA State Meeting held on June 26 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Glastonbury was a resounding success, thanks to the fantastic turnout and engagement of our members. I extend heartfelt thanks to each attendee for their valuable contributions to this event. A highlight of the evening was when Senators Saud Anwar and Heather Somers received Certificates of Appreciation from our Board of Directors for their persistent support of the scope expansion bill. 

I am also proud to share that we successfully passed House Bill 5196, An Act Expanding the Podiatric Scope of Practice. This significant legislative success expands our practice to include performing Choparts amputations and total ankle replacement surgery. This achievement marks a pivotal step forward for our profession, allowing us to provide even more comprehensive care to our patients. I am deeply appreciative of all members whose dedication and advocacy have made this possible. 

Looking ahead, I am eager to see everyone at our 2024 Annual Symposium this November at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino. This event will allow us to connect, share ideas, and explore the latest advancements in podiatry. Our program includes specialized training through the Medical Assistants' Program and a variety of lectures on Office Management and Best Practices. If anyone in your organization is interested in becoming an exhibitor, we have limited spots available, so I encourage you to reach out soon to secure your space.  

Lastly, I encourage all those seeking to make a difference within our community to consider participating in the upcoming board elections, which will take place during this year's Symposium. Joining the board provides the opportunity to shape the future of CPMA and advance the field of podiatry for future generations.
