Meet CPMA Board Member Dr. Kimberly Inocco

From Surgery to Advocacy: Dr. Inocco’s Dedication to Patients and the Profession

When surgical skill, patient education, and advocacy converge, the result is compassionate leadership. Dr. Kimberly Inocco brings this rare combination to the CPMA Board, applying her experience in high-pressure clinical settings to improve outcomes, empower patients, and help shape the future of podiatric medicine.

Dr. Inocco’s clinical foundation was forged during her residency at a Level‐1 Trauma Center and a wound care center. These environments demanded constant vigilance, decisive action, and seamless teamwork. The experience sharpened her ability to manage complex and high‐risk cases, obtaining skills she uses daily to provide thoughtful, proactive care for patients.

Central to Dr. Inocco’s practice is her belief that education is the foundation of patient care. Whether recommending surgery, physical therapy or lifestyle changes, she works to help patients understand the “why ” behind their treatments. This includes explaining the anatomical aspects of their condition, the nature of the issue, and the necessity of each step in their treatment plan.

As a woman in podiatric surgery, Dr. Inocco has experienced both challenges and opportunities. At times, advocating to be heard required persistence, but those moments only strengthened her leadership. Today, she finds fulfillment in mentoring other women entering the field and advocating for a more inclusive and representative profession.

Looking at the broader landscape, Dr. Inocco identifies access as one of the biggest challenges for podiatric patients. Insurance barriers, delayed referrals, and health literacy gaps often mean patients seek care only when their conditions have significantly progressed. To meet these challenges, she believes the field must push for earlier intervention, enhance public awareness, and better integrated care models.

That spirit of advocacy inspired Dr. Inocco to join the CPMA Board. “I wanted to be part of something bigger than my own practice,” she said. Now, as a Board Member, she is focused on advancing advocacy, strengthening mentorship, and improving the pipeline for future podiatric physicians in Connecticut. Looking ahead, Dr. Inocco sees reimbursement parity and scope of practice protection as critical priorities for podiatric medicine. She emphasizes that CPMA’s advocacy ensures podiatrists have a seat at the table when these decisions are made and believes that their voices are more important than ever.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Inocco recharges through nature, family, and travel. She enjoys hiking and yoga, loves time on the beach and boating, and finds inspiration in exploring new cultures and cuisines.

With her commitment to mentorship, advocacy, and preparing the next generation, Dr. Inocco reflects the values at the heart of CPMA. Her leadership strengthens the profession today while ensuring podiatry continues to grow and has a lasting impact on generations to come.
