Across Miles and Medicine: Dr. Adeleke’s Path to Leadership
When it comes to building a dynamic future for podiatry, leaders like Dr. Adebola T. Adeleke, DPM, FACFAS, bring a fresh perspective shaped by experience, dedication, and a drive to make a lasting impact. With advanced training across multiple states and a passion for expanding the possibilities within podiatric medicine, Dr. Adeleke represents the next chapter of transformation and advocacy at the Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association. His journey reflects not just a career built on excellence, but a commitment to ensuring every podiatric professional can practice at the top of their training—and every patient can access the care they need.

Dr. Adeleke’s path to Connecticut was driven by a desire for the right opportunity rather than personal ties. After completing rigorous training in Iowa, Pennsylvania, and New Mexico, he sought a position that would allow him to focus on the orthopedic side of podiatry. Connecticut proved to be the perfect fit, offering a welcoming professional community where he could succeed as a surgeon, podiatrist, and equal member of a multidisciplinary team.
Reflecting on his advanced fellowship at the American Foundation of Lower Extremity Surgery & Research, Dr. Adeleke emphasizes how vital individualized care is to his practice. His training reinforced the importance of seeing each patient and their condition as unique—an approach that helps patients return to their regular activities more quickly and safely. With podiatric scope of practice expanding in Connecticut—including new permissions for total ankle replacement—Dr. Adeleke’s background positions him to deliver advanced care that evolves with the profession.
As a CPMA Board member, Dr. Adeleke is deeply committed to continuing the work of his predecessors by advancing the profession for future generations. His goals include expanding opportunities for podiatrists to practice to the full extent of their training and advocating for critical issues such as fee parity. Ending compensation disparities and ensuring podiatrists are recognized fairly for their expertise are top priorities in his work with CPMA.
With an eye toward the future, Dr. Adeleke is dedicated to encouraging the next wave of podiatric professionals. He encourages students to explore the field, noting the incredible versatility podiatry offers—from orthopedic surgery and sports medicine to wound care and research. "It’s a very rewarding profession," he says, one that deserves more recognition among those pursuing careers in healthcare.
Outside of his demanding career and board service, Dr. Adeleke finds balance by staying active. Whether playing basketball, traveling, reading, or enjoying the arts, he believes that carving out time for personal passions is essential to maintaining his energy and focus.
Dr. Adeleke’s thoughtful leadership and forward-looking vision are tremendous assets to CPMA and the podiatric community in Connecticut. We are grateful for his service and excited to see the impact he will continue to make as we work together to shape the future of our profession.
