Before her career in insurance, Courtney managed operations for a chiropractic practice – an experience that gave her firsthand appreciation for the impact of cyber and billing exposures. That practical foundation continues to shape her understanding of clients’ needs and her dedication to delivering meaningful, effective coverage solutions.

Dr. Lady Paula DeJesus is a triple board-certified podiatric surgeon with extensive training and experience in elective and reconstructive surgery of the foot. She is Board Certified with The American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery, The American Board of Podiatric Medicine, and The American Board of Wound Management. She is a Fellow with the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgery, a Diplomate with The American Board of Podiatric Medicine, a Fellow of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, and a Certified Wound Specialist Physician with The American Board of Wound Management. Her expertise includes diabetic reconstructive foot surgery, wound care, and limb preservation. She serves as current Chief of Podiatry at Yale New Haven Health Greenwich Hospital and is a faculty member with the Yale New Haven Health Bridgeport Hospital Podiatric Residency Program. Dr. DeJesus completed a 4-year surgical residency in NYC at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, An Academic Affiliate of Weil Medical College of Cornell University and NY Presbyterian Hospital Network. She served as solo Chief Resident in her final 2 years, supervising and teaching 33 other residents. Dr. DeJesus volunteers her time by participating in yearly overseas medical mission trips to Vietnam, Colombia, and The Bahamas.

Dr. Kesselman has more than 40 years of clinical experience and recently retired from clinical practice. He has been providing consulting services to medical manufacturers for over thirty years and is the CEO of Park DPM Consulting, LLC. He has submitted countless applications to PDAC for HCPCS validation of many DMEPOS and has submitted many HCPCS applications to CMS HCPCS Workgroup for new codes for a wide array of medical products.

Most recently he has partnered with Alan Bass DPM CPC and David Freedman to create “codinghelpline.COM a forum where physicians can post coding and policy questions.

He is well known for his extensive writing and lectures on the use of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and Cellular Tissue Products and other wound care and other modalities. He was involved in formulating the first LCD for the then referred to “Skin Substitutes”.

His monthly column appearing in Podiatry Management is primarily dedicated to coding and compliance issues. He is well versed in many facets of medical manufacturing issues and a council member for all the DME Medicare carriers, including the Medicare DMEPOS enrollment carriers.

For almost two decades he has been a consulting editor to Podiatry Management and has provided educational documents to other medical publications and medical manufacturers.

He is board certified by American Board of Podiatric Surgery He has twice been distinguished by Podiatry Management as one of the top 300 most influential podiatrists in the U.S. NYSPMA previously named him the Podiatrist of the Year. Just this spring the podiatry profession awarded him with a Lifetime Achievement Award and induction into the Podiatry Hall of Fame. He has also been nominated for APMA’s Distinguished Citation Award.

Dr. Kesselman is a consultant to medical malpractice carriers, often serving as an expert witness advocating for physicians against third party payers. He also has worked with OIG investigators and CMS advocating against fraudulent providers.

Dr. Kesselman performs peer review for many insurance carriers as well as Independent Medical Exams for many no fault and workers compensation carriers.

Dr. Kesselman serves as a liaison between the APMA and many other health care associations.

Dr. Kesselman is a sought-after speaker at many local, national and international conferences.

 Dr. Michael Gazes, DPM, is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon with Yale New Haven Foot & Ankle Surgeons and Northeast Medical Group. He serves as Clerkship Director and Assistant Program Director for the Yale Podiatric Foot & Ankle Surgery Residency Program and is the Associate Fellowship Program Director for the Yale Chronic Wound Care and Regenerative Medicine Fellowship. In addition, he holds an academic appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine. 

Dr. Gazes specializes in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, diabetic limb salvage, wound care, and sports-related injuries. Committed to advancing podiatric medicine through education, research, and innovation, he provides compassionate, evidence-based care to his patients. Dr. Gazes earned his medical degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and completed his residency training at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Michael Fein, DPM, is a podiatric surgeon with over 40 years of experience in treating foot and ankle problems. He is the chief of podiatric foot and ankle surgery at Danbury Hospital and the onsite director for the St. Barnabas podiatric surgical residency at Danbury Hospital. He is also a wound care specialist at the Morganti Center for Wound Care. He has been recognized multiple times by Connecticut Magazine as one of “Connecticut’s Top Doctors” and has been honored as Podiatrist of the Year by his peers. He is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.  He specializes in diabetic foot care and ulcer management.. He graduated from Temple College of Podiatric Medicine in 1981 and completed his podiatric surgical residency at Broad Street Hospital and Medical Center in Philadelphia. He practices at Bethel Foot and Ankle in Bethel, CT. 

Dr. Fein is a Medical Director for a national insurance review company. 

Deb Marchese, With over 25 years’ experience in the field of credit and collections, Deb’s expertise is in business to business in the market of worldwide precious metals.  She started with Enthone Inc a subsidiary of ASARCO of NY. During her time with Enthone she was the credit and collection manager for North America with additional responsibilities of distributorships in Canada and Mexico. During this time Deb joined the MFSA (Metal Finisher’s Supply Association) and was excited to accept the position of president of the MFSA credit organization where she held that position for 3 years. Deb then advanced to direction of credit and collections for Pentron Incorporated in Wallingford, CT again bringing her expertise in credit and collections to the dental field. She has also previously been a owner/partner in JMS Financial Services, a business-to-business collection agency. In 2008, Deb transitioned to Stamford Hospital and is current the Practice and Site Administrator for the Stamford Health Medical Group.  

Dr. Bela Pandit was the Chair of the Practice Management committee for the last two years for the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and based in Chicago. She is the only podiatrist on the MACRA board for Medicare. The has been in private practice since residency and which maintains several locations and a successful medical spa.  A speaker at conferences both nationally and internationally,  she is honored to present as a speaker today as well as a speaker for BAKO diagnostics.

Dr. David A. Sipala, DPM, FACFAS is a Board-certified Foot and Ankle surgeon currently practicing at Boston Medical Center-Brighton, where he also serves as Residency Program Director for Podiatric Surgery. He is the President-Elect for the Massachusetts Foot and Ankle Society (MFAS) and serves as Scientific Co-Chair for the APMA/MFAS Region One Scientific Conference.  

Dr. Sipala earned his medical degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and completed his residency at Boston Medical Center-Brighton- formerly St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center- where he received extensive training in forefoot, rearfoot, and ankle reconstructive surgery.  He is surgical consultant for Stryker Orthopedics and has published research on fixation techniques for subtalar joint fusion using the Salvation midfoot nail, which he presented at ACFAS 2025 

Dr. Gambardella, a Connecticut native, graduated from Columbia University in 2003 where he was a Division I pitcher and went on to complete his pre-medical requirements at Harvard University. He ultimately earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in 2010. While there, he served as President of his class and was inducted into the distinguished Pi Delta National Podiatric Honor Society and the Stirling-Harford DiPrimio Honorary Anatomical Society. He was also the recipient of the Kate L. Paine Scholarship in Peripheral Vascular Disease, among numerous other awards and scholarships. While at Temple University, he also earned membership into Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities. He then completed a comprehensive 3-year surgical residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital where he received extensive training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and deformity correction, diabetic limb salvage, and trauma surgery of the foot and ankle. During his residency, he received the prestigious Residency Excellence Award. 

 Dr. Gambardella joined Bloomfield Foot Specialists in 2014. Dr. Gambardella specializes in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of foot and ankle disorders, including congenital and acquired deformities, sports related injuries, trauma, heel pain, nerve pain, wounds, arthritis, and nail plate disorders. His surgical interests include wound reconstruction and diabetic limb salvage, peripheral nerve surgery, ankle arthroscopy, deformity correction (bunions, flatfoot, etc.), trauma surgery (tendon ruptures, foot and ankle fractures) and Charcot reconstruction. Dr. Gambardella also enjoys the academic aspect of medicine, including lecturing, research, and participating in the education of surgical residents. Dr. Gambardella has been Section Chief of Podiatric Foot and Ankle Surgery at St. Francis Hospital since July 1, 2021.  He serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Integris Group and is chair of the underwriting committee while also serving on the Risk Management and Governance committees.  Dr. Gambardella served on the board of directors for CPMA for 9 years and was successful in getting a law passed this past year allowing podiatrists to perform Total Ankle Replacement surgery.  Dr. Gambardella is a consultant for Gramercy Extremity Orthopedics, and is involved with product development, and is also being brought on as a consultant for Enovis in 2025. 

Dr. Kristen Winters is a Podiatric Physician with 25 years of experience practicing in Connecticut initially for 2 years with the Connecticut Surgical Group at Hartford Hospital and has been with PodiatryCare, PC, a group of 4 podiatric physicians, for the last 23 years currently serving as President. 

She graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in pre-podiatric medicine. While in college, she played division one field hockey and for the United States national under 21 team traveling  both nationally and internationally competing in the sport that she loved. 

She obtained a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine in 1998 at the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She then moved to Connecticut to complete a 2-year surgical residency program at the St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford where she served as chief medical resident. She became Board Certified in Foot Surgery by the ABFAS in 2006 and enjoys the focus on forefoot surgery and podiatric sports medicine. 

A strong believer in profession development, she has served on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association for over 15 years and as President for 2 years. 

In 2024, she was the recipient of the John D. Walker Award / Podiatrist of the Year Award.  

She also maintains a passion for the development of our surgical residents as she is an active attending at Trinity Health of New England, Saint Francis Campus residency program for the last 22 years. She has personally found great benefit in implementing wellness measures in her own life including cycling, running, golf, yoga and gardening.
